Decapitated coconuts tell the story of the volcano's fire

P1060724 decaptitated coconuts

The decapitated coconut palms -- they do not regenerate -- are reminders of how the burning gases and super-heated ash hit Matupit Island when Tavurvur and Vulcan erupted in 1994. Revegetating their land, the Islanders are determined that it will not only be productive, but will be pleasing to the eye too. Frangipanis and other decorative plans are everywhere. P1060724
